What Makes Me Happy?

What makes me Happy?
I got this post idea from Meghan .If you get a chance, stop by and say hello to Meghan.

What Makes Me Happy?
1.Kids. I love kids!!!!!! I spend my day surrounded by kids:) I use to dream of growing up and having a house full of kids(which I did) and now that mine are getting older, I really enjoy my friend's kids/babies. I just think they are the closest thing to perfect here on earth:)
I'll admit it, I am kinda like the little old lady who lived in a shoe:)
~~~~~
"Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven." (Matt 18:1-6)
~~~~~
2.My family. I love my family dearly. My family is so precious to me. I thank God for blessing me with such a wonderful family. We can do everything or nothing at all together and still have a great time. I love being with them. They bring me so much joy.
~~~~~
3.My Hobbies...gardening, photography, blogging,and reading...just to name a few:)
~~~~~
4.My friends. I really love spending time with friends. Two of my friends came over yesterday and we had some of the best laughs just watching their kids and mine:) They are like family...we can do things together or not do anything at all ,but set and rock on the front porch and still have a great time:) I love that quote,
"Friends are the family you choose for yourself"...
Sometimes it seems your friends are there for you ,when your family's not.
~~~~~
5. My church. I can go to church and regardless of how I feel when I enter, I come out feeling so blessed and loved!!! God is really working in our church and blessingso many lives:) I feel so blessed to be a part of the church that I'm a member of. I truly believe I'm just where God wants me to be. My church IS MY SECOND FAMILY. I love them and they love me...I'm blessed:)
~~~~~
6.Eating out. I love trying new foods:) I love when Hubby takes me on dates and we try new things together...it's fun!!!
Fun=Happiness!!!
~~~~~
7.Being active. I love doing things and going places. I love being busy. I get bored easily and I consider it a waste of life to just set around and do nothing. I still have so much I want to see and do before my time is done, but when I do leave this world, all will be able to say, "Sandy lived every minute of her life ".
Another of my favorite quotes-
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. -Mark Twain
~~~~~

8. I saved the very best for last. My relationship with God is the one thing(above the others) that truly brings me the greatest joy of all. He loves me and knows me more than anyone else and the more I've learned about Him, has made me want to walk as closely as possible with Him and to live my life for Him. The happiness He brings to me can't be put in words or compared to anything else.. It's like that song "Drinking from my Saucer"...because my cup has overflowed:) If you've heard it then you know what I'm talking about. I just pray that everyone will have this relationship with Him at some point in their life...it truly is an amazing love.

Picture credit ...
goes to Ashley & to Christy for blessing us with Jake.
The picture above is of Jake. He is my friend Christy's lil boy:) I chose his "Happy" face as my theme picture for this post. This is a picture Ashley took of him yesterday. He brings alot of joy to our lives and I thank Christy for sharing him with us:) He's my baby boy. Christy says I'm his second mommy and sometimes I feel like I am:) He is just a piece of Heaven to me:)

Tag you're it! Now it's your turn:)
What makes you Happy?

My Word Wall

Just being Jacob

My conversation with Jacob

Our conversation in the bathroom yesterday.

He was in the bath with the curtains closed and I was fixing my hair.

Jacob- "Mom, why do you always dress like a preacher?"
Me-"What do you mean?"

Jacob-"You know, how you always dress like the preacher."

Me-"I don't."

Jacob-"Yes you do."

Me-"Jacob how do I dress like a preacher?"

Jacob-"Like now, look at you. You look like a preacher."

Jacob-"Why can't you just dress like a country girl and not like a preacher?"

Me-"How do you dress like a country girl?"

Jacob-"You know you look cool and *purty*

*smile*

So I guess I'm not that cool or that Purty(as he puts it so kindly)...lol

And I have no idea why he thinks I look like a preacher. Our pastor is male and he wears suits with ties every service .

I'm going on a date!

Well, I'm going on a date:) Hubby called from work earlier and asked did I want to go out tonight "blushing" and I said, "sure I do". I love dates!!! Now I have no idea where we are going ,but that really doesn't matter much... I'm not picky:)
So I tried my best to dress up nice. I put on my dressiest capris and top, I splashed on my love spell perfume, put in my favorite earrings, I put on my favorite pumps, and even painted my nails red. Now, I'm sitting here waiting...waiting...waiting....waiting... on hubby.
Yes, you heard that right. I'm waiting on him to get ready.
Boy how things have changed...
I remember when we first dated, he would always be ready and at my house waiting on me...lol However, now it seems I'm always waiting on him. Am I the only one with this problem??? lol
I'll fill you in later:) Gotta run. He is finally ready!!!!!!

Everything I need to know...

Everything I Need To Know

I Learned From The Easter Bunny

~ Don't put all your eggs in one basket
~ Walk softly and carry a big carrot
~ Everyone needs a friend who is all ears
~ There's no such thing as too much candy
~ All work and no play can make you a basket case
~ A cute little tail attracts a lot of attention
~ Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day
~ Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits
~ Some body parts should be floppy
~ Keep your paws off other people's jelly beans
~ Good things come in small sugarcoated packages
~ The grass is always greener in someone else's basket
~ An Easter bonnet can tame even the wildest hare
~ To show your true colors you have to come out of your shell
~ The best things in life are still sweet and gooey

Jellybean Poems

The Jellybean Prayer

Red is for the blood He gave
Green is for the grass He made
Yellow is for the sun so bright
Orange is for the edge of night
Black is for the sins we made
White is for the grace He gave
Purple is for the house of sorrow
Pink is for the new tomorrow

A bag of jellybeans
colorful and sweet
In this prayer is a promise
And a small delicious treat.

********

JELLY BEAN POEM

Little jelly beans
tell a story true.
A tale of the Father's love
Just for me and you.

GREEN is for the waving palms.
YELLOW is for the sun above.
BROWN is for the soft earth where
People sat hearing of HIS love.

A SPECKLED bean for fish and sand.
RED for precious wine and
BLACK is for the sin
He washed from your soul and mine.

PURPLE'S for the sadness of
HIS family and His friends,
WHITE is for the glory of
The Day HE rose again.

Now that you've heard the story
You know what each color means.
The story of our Father's love
Told by some jelly beans.
So every morning take a bean
They're really very yummy.
Something for the soul, you see
And something for the tummy.
*******
When I use to teach Sunday school at our church, we always did the jelly bean poem project around Easter time. We would take little jellybeans (in the colors above) and put them in a little baggy and tie the baggy with ribbon. Then we would attach the poem above. The kids loved it!

You know you're too busy when...

You make yourself notes and leave them all over the house so you don't forget something.
I was gonna be watching baby Samantha early today (6:15 am) so I made myself a note to be watching/ready for her this morning.
I'm guilty of being to busy, because I have to do this all the time. Right now I have 3 notes I've left through out my house.
Then my hubby "Brent" decided he would leave me a note of his own *smiles*
It read, "Love Hubby, Everyday". Do you think he needs a little more attention?!?...lol

Do you remember?

Close your eyes.....And go back.... Before the Internet or the MAC, Before semi automatics and crack.

Before SEGA or Super Nintendo

Way back........ I'm talkin' bout hide and go seek at dusk. Sittin' on the porch, Hot bread and butter. The Good Humor man, Red light, Green light.

Chocolate milk, Lunch tickets, Penny candy in a brown paper bag. Playin' Pinball in the corner store.

Hopscotch, butterscotch, doubledutch Jacks, kickball, dodgeball, y'all!

Mother May I? Red Rover and Roly Poly

Hula Hoops and Sunflower Seeds, Jolly Ranchers, Banana Splits Wax Lips and Mustaches

Running through the sprinkler The smell of the sun and lickin' salty lips....

Wait...... Watchin' Saturday Morning cartoons, Fat Albert, Road Runner, He-Man, The Three Stooges, and Bugs, Or back further, listening to Superman on the radio Catchin' lightening bugs in a jar, Playin' sling shot.

When around the corner seemed far away, And going downtown seemed like going somewhere. Bedtime, Climbing trees, An ice cream cone on a warm summer night Chocolate or vanilla or strawberry or maybe butter pecan A lemon coke from the fountain at the corner drug store A million mosquito bites and sticky fingers, Cops and Robbers, Cowboys and Indians, Sittin' on the curb,

Jumpin' down the steps, Jumpin' on the bed. Pillow fights

Runnin' till you were out of breath Laughing so hard that your stomach hurt Being tired from playin'.... Remember that?

I ain't finished just yet... Eating Kool-aid powder with sugar Remember when... When there were two types of sneakers for girls and boys (Keds & PF Flyers) and the only time you wore them at school, was for "gym." When it took five minutes for the TV to warm up, if you even had one. When nearly everyone's mom was at home when the kids got there. When nobody owned a purebred dog. When a quarter was a decent allowance, and another quarter a miracle. When milk went up one cent and everyone talked about it for weeks? When you'd reach into a muddy gutter for a penny. When girls neither dated nor kissed until late high school, if then.

When your Mom wore nylons that came in two pieces. When all of your male teachers wore neckties and female teachers had their hair done, everyday. When you got your windshield cleaned, oil checked, and gas pumped, without asking, for free, every time. And, you didn't pay for air. And, you got trading stamps to boot! When laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes or towels hidden inside the box. When any parent could discipline any kid, or feed him or use him to carry groceries, and nobody, not even the kid, thought a thing of it. When it was considered a great privilege to be taken out to dinner at a real restaurant with your parents. When they threatened to keep kids back a grade if they failed .... and did!

When being sent to the principal's office was nothing compared to the fate that awaited a misbehaving student at home. Basically, we were in fear for our lives but it wasn't because of drive by shootings, drugs, gangs, etc. Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger threat! and some of us are still afraid of em!!! Didn't that feel good.. just to go back and say, Yeah, I remember that! There's nothing like the good old days! They were good then, and they're good now when we think about them. Share some of these thoughts with a friend who can relate, then share it with someone that missed out on them.

Keep Smiling, Live, Love & Be Happy!

Gingerbread village

I wish you could see this better. The whole village is edible. I couldn't fit it all in the picture because it is so huge. But every part even the trees, snowmen,sleds,animals,etc are all made of candy. This was on display at the lodge where we took our classes.
You can click on the picture to see it a little larger.
