Hands-on Fun @ I Heart Faces

I decided to join in the fun at I Heart Faces
This is my 1st time and this week's theme is "Hands-on Fun".
I tried to think of my all time favorite hand picture, that I've taken and I believe it is the picture of Lacy's hand. Lacy is the daughter of Terry & Nicole Harper and I took this pic while she was swinging in the swing one day.

It's winter break!

It's winter break here in Howellville. We try to plan our school year around the public school year, since I babysit for two people who work for the public school system. We figure since all the kids in our area are out that we would take the week off too.
It hasn't been that great of a week for me, because I've been a little under the weather, but I'm starting to feel better today...yay!!!!
As for the kids, they have really enjoyed this week. Ashley has spent the whole week with her big sister Anna. She loves staying with Anna and helping with the baby:)
Katie spent Monday-Wednesday with one of her best friends:)
Jon has been working & making money of his own. He has been helping his daddy work in the evening & helping a neighbor chop wood during the day. So he has been working most of his break, but he likes having money to spend.
However,I miss my kids when they are gone, but I'm glad they are enjoying their break.
Jacob was so bored Mon-Tue ,because it was just he & I at home. I wasn't feeling that good so we pretty much just laid around & watched movies. But on Wed, one of our past foster kids and Jacob's best friend(Trinton) came over and spent the night & he is still here. Jacob has really enjoyed having him over for two nights. They have been playing wii & club penguin and wrestling non-stop. Since he has been occupied, I have had more time to rest & feel better.
I have liked having the week off, but I wouldn't want it to be this way everyday. I have to be busy. I really do thrive on scheduled busy days. I miss my other kids (the ones I keep) when they are not here. Yes, they keep me on my toes & at times they make me want to pull my hair out , but I love my other kids. They brighten my days. So I'm looking forward to next week and getting back to normal.
Some of you ,that are friends with me on facebook, asked me what happened to the sibling group that we were asked to take last week. I figured I'd take a moment and feel you in on them.
Last week DFCS called and asked if we would consider taking a sibling group permanently. The kids were 6, 4, 2, and 2 (twins). they would have stayed with us until they were adopted or we could choose to adopt them ourselves. My heart said yes, but my house said no. We could have made room ,but it would have been very snug. I would have had to put three of the fosters in one room together and I didn't like that idea. If we took them it would also mean Katie & Ashley would have had to share a room and Ashley would have had to give up her room to the fosters. They didn't mind sharing their room with a foster ,but giving up their room was another thing. So we struggled with what to do. My heart broke saying no. As for the children, they are still in their original placement and for now they are going to stay there. We are going to start working on our extra bedroom as soon as spring gets here and maybe next time we won't have to say no to any placement. Please keep these kids in your prayers.
I also wanted to update you on my mom, since I haven't in a while. She had her second round of injections last week. She is doing so much better. Thank you for all the prayers for my mom. She is proof that prayer works(but we all knew it did).
Well, I guess that is it. It's all that comes to mind at the moment. I hope you all are having a great week. ((hugs))

Chicken Dressing

What's For Dinner?
Chicken Dressing!!!!!
3 1/2-4 lb. chicken wings or thighs
4 tbsp. poultry seasoning
1 pan cornbread
3 onions, chopped
1 bunch celery, chopped
1 stick butter
2 tsp. sage
2 tsp. poultry seasoning (more to taste)
Broth

Cook cornbread. Cool and refrigerate. Put chicken in pot and cover with water and add poultry seasoning. Simmer until chicken is done (about 45 minutes). Remove chicken from broth and cool.
Saute celery and onions in butter for 5 minutes. Crumble cornbread in bowl and add celery and onions. Add sage and poultry seasoning. Add broth slowly a little at a time until mixed together but not soupy. Save remaining broth in refrigerator. Taste dressing and use more seasonings if desired.

Place in oblong pyrex dish. Skin chicken (if wings are used, break off and use only the small drumstick portion) and place on top of dressing. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Some of the refrigerated broth can be added when reheating leftover dressing, since it tends to dry out.

Oh Happy Day!!!!!!

Three inches of snow for us!!!!
I know you people up north must think us southern folks are so silly when it comes to snow, but snow is rare here for us. So when it comes, we actually enjoy it. This is my little boy's third (corrected) big snow since he was born (he is 8).We usually just get a dusting or so. Yes, 3+ inches is a big snow to us down here in GA. Then to get a snow just right for building a snowman is even more rare for us.
So this is an exciting day for us.
Below is Jacob's snowman:)
Yep, we got three whole inches...lol
I will be adding more pics soon, but for now, I've got to go join the kids in the snow:)
We may not get another one for several more years.
Yes, it wasn't quite three when I took the above pic but it was still snowing. When the snow stopped everyonein our area said we had about 3- 4 inches. I think 3 is more accurate to what I had in my yard:)

How we met...

Hubby and I have been married almost 21 years!!!
A few weeks ago on facebook a friend of mine posted
a post asking how each of us met our mates.
So I thought since Valentine's Day is coming up that I would
share how Hubby & I met ,with you:)

In 1988, the church I attended put together a haunted house, as a youth fun raiser. I was asked to play a part in it. I had the part of a grieving widow. Another teen "Tommy" in my Sunday school class was asked to play the part of my deceased husband.
Tommy and Brent was good friends. Brent and some of his friends stopped by to
go through the haunted house that night. Tommy got tired of laying in the coffin and he asked if anyone would take his place. Brent said he would.

Brent ended up taking his place for the rest of that night. We had a great time playing our parts:) We talked & laughed all night.
A few days later, a mutual friend of ours "Kim" called me and asked me what I thought about Brent and I told her that I liked him and that I had enjoyed playing his wife:) He had called her earlier talking about me...lol
After that, we started dating and in May of 1989 we got married:)

~Happy Valentine's Day Hubby!~
I love you,
Sandy

Today's Devotion

Verse-Revelation 4:11
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and we're created.

Thoughts-
Every soul belongs to God. He is behind all, above all, and before all. All things that exist come from Him and for Him. We owe to Him every honor we are able to give to him. We will never be content until we submit ourselves entirely to Him. Every part of our personality must line up with His character. He is not obligated to alter His character to measure to ours. It is difficult because our flesh resists and desires to indulge in the world. It is a struggle for everyone. We must submit ourselves to Him and strive to be in His image. God speaks of Himself as " I AM" When we speak to Him we say "He IS" We need to align our thinking and adjust our lives according to His character, His principals and be willing to submit ourselves totally to Him and accept Him as He is. The Great I AM.

Today's Devotion

Verse-Psalm 119:165
Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

An obsession with unimportant things can cause us to become not only stationary but stagnant. Time spent worrying and fretting over things is time wasted. We can either believe that God is in control and trust all things to Him or not. It is quite a heavy load that we needlessly carry and it causes us to become so bogged down that we don't get very far very fast and we sure aren't happy about it. If we want to do great things for God we must first learn to let go and let God. Worry and aggravation does not change the situation but instead opens a door that allows animosity to attach itself to our hearts. We will continue to run across people who may offend us or act in a way we have determined unacceptable. We may suffer injustice at one level or another. Each day has its share of things that would rob us of our joy. The only one who can change those situations for us is God and we must trust Him to do just that.
