I knew very little about epilepsy before Blaze.
I had only ever seen one person have a seizure.
Then the day came that Blaze had his first one with me.
I'm not sure anything has ever scared me so bad.
I wasn't even sure at first that it was a seizure.
He was just a baby.
I just looked down and he was
shaking, fist clinched tight,
his limbs started drawing in
and he turned blue.
I honestly thought he was dying
before my eyes.
I ran (because we were outside)
as fast as I could into the house.
By the time I handed him over
to his dad his color was coming back.
I grabbed the phone to call 911.
By the time I got the dispatcher on the phone
he went into another seizure,
in his daddy arms.
He was coming out of
that seizure
just as the EMT
came through the door.
It was by far one of the most scary
moments of my life.
Blaze has
Symptomatic Partial Seizure Epilepsy
Blaze has been hospitalized
3 times for seizures.
He is on kepra and we now carry
a diastat pen just incase.
Above is a picture of how seizures can effect the body.
