It's been a very tough day. Baby girl has pretty much cried the entire day. She has tried her best to get off of her bed. She has fought every nurse, doctor, and therapist that has entered this room. We've fought over oxygen all day. Everytime I hooked it up to her trach she yanked it off. She asked for her bear. I gave her the bear and she pushed it off the bed. She asked for a blanket. I pulled it up over her legs and then she screamed, "No blanket". She asked to watch TV. I flipped it to one of her favorite shows and she screamed, "NO TV". This is how Bry normally acts in a hospital setting. It triggers her. These last two days have not been Bry. Having her calm these last two days have made being here easier on me, but today was how it really usually is.The nurses can't believe today's child is the same child they saw yesterday. These hospital stays are difficult on both of us.
Bry doesn't do well with any changes in her life and when anything changes it can push her to her breaking point. It can be something as simple as moving a toy around in her room or changing her bed sheets. Bry is on meds to try to help her with her anxiety but due to her surgery all home meds were stopped so I imagine her system has started withdrawing. These last two days she has been on pain meds and that's probably why she's been so calm but today she has been wide open and it's been tough. Thankfully they just came in and gave her a med to make her go to sleep. Hopefully she will sleep all night.
They are talking like the earliest we can go home will be Tuesday, if Bry can handle solids tomorrow and does well with them. They did start her liquid feeds via her feeding tube this evening and so far she hasn't vomitted! Crossing our fingers that we can go home soon. Just pray for us. We sure need it.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart;and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him,and he will direct thy paths. ~Proverbs 3:5-6
