We are getting ready for our first BIG winter storm of 2011. We've stocked our pantry with everything we may need, should we get snowed in. We also want to be prepared if we should loose our power due to the ice ...like they are predicting is coming. We are VERY excited about the snow amounts, because snow over 2 inches is VERY rare here and they are saying that we can expect 6+ inches in our area. The amount keeps changing by the hour so it may be less or more when it's all over. We just HOPE that we won't loose power ,because after the snow stops we are suppose to have freezing rain for several hours. Our power lines here in the south don't do so well with ice. If we do loose power,we've gotten the wood stacked up, we have a fire in the fireplace, wood in the wood heater, batteries in the flashlights, oil in the lamps, and lots of water and drinks.
My main concern is for little Z ,because he has gotten really congested again over night and we are back on around the clock breathing treatments. Those can't be given without power. So keep our lil man in your prayers. We sure don't want to end up back in the hospital.

Well, I guess I should get off and get back busy. I'm trying to get all of our laundry finished up and my house cleaned up. Have a great weekend everyone!
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart;and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him,and he will direct thy paths. ~Proverbs 3:5-6

ReplyDeleteYou will be fine♥ I love the snow. WE have a lot of it often in Indiana. My Hubby use to plow snow on the side & I loved riding with him in the winter wonderland. It can be scary with ice though. Be cautious on the road, especially around other nervous or inexperienced snow/ice drivers. We have built in snow days in the school calendars. I worry about my daughters that live an hour north of us in a snow belt. They usually get it worse than us & they know how to bundle up when treking through to class.
In January of 1978 (yes I am old) we had a blast as the Blizzard of 78 snowed our town in for a week, closing everything down. I was 15 & neighbor kids & I went door to door to get shopping list & made runs (dragging sleds)to a small mart, so everyone had the basics. We also connected neighbors & traded what they had & could spare. It brought our neighborhood together that winter. The snow reached the rooftops of some of the homes.
Hang tough, have your camera ready, and enjoy♥ It's a pretty change of season♥
btw~ we rarely loose power.
It seems strange to be preparing for a snowstorm in Ga. We're predicted to get sleet, ice, rain basically slush. But maybe just maybe some snow. Have fun and be safe.
ReplyDeletedid you get hit?
