Have any of you ever thought about going private with your blog? I would still keep my friends(followers) as welcomed friends, but not complete strangers. I would be only open to those who sent me a friend request. That way I would know who my readers are. I haven't decided for sure, but it is something I'm thinking about. However, that defeats the purpose I had in mind when I created this blog..."Sharing my Faith,Family, and Friends"....hmmm...I guess I've got to think about it,before I make any decisions. What do you think? Good idea or bad idea???? Any other ideas???

I have more than one blog. One is locked to approved friends only. The rest of my blogs are public.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!

hmmm I figure that there are so many people I wouldn't be able to possibly touch if I block mine that I've got them public. This world is an unsafe place so we all have to be careful. All I know is that Anonymous people who leave obnoxious comments annoy me. I stopped them from being able to comment but the rest of the world can see mine.(for now anyway)
ReplyDeletemaybe leave it open but pics and personal items private?
ReplyDeleteI haven't thought of going private because I often find out about readers that I didn't know I had. Out of the blue I'll get an email sharing how my post ministered to him/her.
ReplyDeleteYou could always have a private blog where you put more personal information.
Bless you,
Beth
I haven't had anything but wonderful feedback since I've had my blog. Only one person ever wrote me negative and that was someone telling me my belief was wrong. We just agreed to disagree and I prayed for them, but that is as far as that went. However, I can't decide for sure if it is something I want to do or not, because I do get so much wonderful feedback about how something I've wrote touched someone...and that's what it's all about.
ReplyDeletei think you have to follow your heart...hugs my friend
ReplyDeleteIt's up to you...duh...but I have enjoyed following your posts. I could never comment - been reading you for a year I think but didn't have google/id. So I got one today to say....I love reading your blog and you are such an inspiration. Single mom of 3 here...and I don't know how you do it!!
ReplyDeleteAs you know, I freaked out and deleted all my posts and pictures a while back after a friend got her pictures stolen. Someone had taken pictures of her family and said they were their own kids. It just isn't worth the risk for me. That's when I decided to have a main blog that anyone could read, and I could still share and have kind of an "outreach ministry." And then a private blog with our pictures and names on it for only blog friends and family to see. It has worked out really well. Sometimes you guys forget to check the private one, but that's okay too.
ReplyDeleteYou already have a picture blog, you could just limit pictures on this one, and be more careful with names.
I thought about doing this...however, there are many whom I am not even aware of that read my blog. I am trusting God is using my blog and will protect me and my family in the process! :) Best of luck with your decision! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a question I think most of us struggle with at times. You have to do what feels right in your heart.
ReplyDeleteYour words are always so inspiring and I enjoy your blog so much.
I have thought about it, but I knew I would lose so many great blogging friends if I did because when you go private the updates do not show up in the dashboard so it is hard for them to know when you post. That is what changed my mind.
ReplyDeleteI never really thought about people stealing pictures until I saw one of mine on someones Blog. They said it was my picture so it was no biggy. Then last night my mom told me that she takes them. So.. my question is... is there any way that we can stop people from stealing pictures. If not, I'm going to start putting my name on mine.
ReplyDeleteKristy-Actually you can put a no right click code on your blog and then on each picture you can remove the link that people get when they click on your pics. It does help, but you have to do it to every single picture, so it takes a while.
ReplyDeleteOh my that do sound time consuming and I sure don't have that. lol Thanks for the help mama! Have a good week <3
