Got a question?!?!

Can any of you tell me about the new books "Twilight" that seem to be a big hit with all the teens right now. I've heard it was about a vampire/love story. Other than that I have no clue. One of my kids asked for these books for Christmas. How many books are in the set? Does each book start where the last left off and if so which order do you read them in? Do you recommend them or not??? Any help would be much appreciated. Just leave me a comment below or email me at mom2five@bellsouth.net

  1. I can tell you all about these books. There are four in the series. They do pick up where the last one left off, so you will read them in the following order: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn.

This saga is about a girl who encounters a coven/family of "vegetarian" vampires, meaning they only drink the blood of animals instead of humans. This being they have learned to interact naturally with himans. As naturally as strickingly beautiful predators can. But along comes this girl, Bella. She is an anamoly to the youngest-looking of the group, Edward. Se he can read everyone's mind- except hers. But she also has a natural scent that makes him crave her blood more than any others, 'his personal brand of heroine'. Well, they wind up falling in love despite the odds.

To thicken the plot, in the second book, Bella begins a deep friendship/relationship with another boy that happens to turn into a werewolf! The books are filled with the conflict of the love triangle, as well as the mortal enemies of vampire/werewolf, and the constant reaccuring threat of 'non-vegetatian' vampires. To qrap it all up, you have the delema of whether Bella should choose an immortal life with the just love of her life, or choose a long and happy that will eventually end, but could include children and growing old with her very best friend.

I really enjoyed the series. I also enjoy the fact that there was no sex until they were married. Even then it didn't get graphic, which is nice when considering letting you children read it. I was not thrilled with Bella's obviously modern view on marriage. This among other reasons leads you to really get frustated with her in the 3rd book. But over all a very intriguing story. Great twists and turns. Really sucks you in. They are huge books, but I couldn't put them down and read the 1st 3 in a week. So watch out- you might not see your daughter for a while. :o) Good luck!
