Colton Dixon's Through it all...

Oh, how I can relate to this song. It could be the story of my life. The story of most of our lives. My life has been a journey full of joy and regrets. I've made a lifetime full of mistakes. So many things I would do differently if I could go back now and relive my life all over.  I'm just thankful that even when I didn't get things right, God knew my heart. He knew my desire was always to get it right. I'm thankful that He loved me through all of the good times and the bad. Never once did He leave me or turn His back to me. I love this song. It's so true,

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart;and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him,and he will direct thy paths. ~Proverbs 3:5-6

My Blaze put together his first sentence!...

My little Blaze spoke his first sentence today. I know you are wondering how that can be since Blaze is profoundly deaf and doesn't speak at all. He has recently started at a new therapy center (yes another one) and he is working with a new speech therapist that teaches and uses augmentative devices. She is teaching Blaze how to use a communication device, kinda like the one pictured below.
He is picking it up very quickly. He hits a button and it speaks for him. He kept hitting the "go" button. His therapist signed to him, "go where?" He then hit the "I want", and the "McDonalds" buttons. The computer then said, "I want McDonalds".

 "I want McDonalds".

Needless to say I was one VERY happy mom! I know it probably doesn't seem like that big of a deal to most, but for a child who has been in therapy for almost his whole life (3+ years), this is huge. It is opening a whole new world of communication for my son. I am so happy for him. Today was a great day!

Another beautiful birthday girl...

Our beautiful Adalyn Grace
or "Addy Bug" as we all call her
is celebrating her 4th birthday today!!!!!
Our little Addy is such a sweet heart. She is a very laid back little girl. She is soft spoken and very bashful if she doesn't know you well. She loves the color purple. She loves cheerleading, playing dress up, and playing with her baby dolls. She is for sure a girly girl and I love it! She stole my heart at first sight. She has brought a lot of joy in all of our lives and I thank God for blessing us with such a precious little girl. I love you Addy Bug bigger than the sky! I hope you enjoy your special day. ~MeMe

Our big girl turned 6 or was it 16!!!!....

I am a little late with this post, but I still wanted to share it. Our beautiful grand Brookelyn Shae celebrated her 6th birthday on January 12th.
It is so hard to believe that 6 years came and went that fast. Brookelyn or "Bookie Shae" as I like to call her, is growing into a wonderful little lady. She is the one that taught me what it was to be a grandmother, but it really wasn't at all what I expected. It was so much better. When I first found out that Anna was expecting, I was thrilled at the thought of having a new baby in our family, but I was also sad. Sad because I thought being a grandmother made you old. I didn't want to be old and I still don't....lol I for sure didn't want to be called grandma or even granny in my 30's. Those are names for grey haired old women, or so I thought. But, I've learned that you are only as old as you feel and as long as I feel young, then I am...he he he Yes, my hair color is starting to slightly turn grey these days but I've discovered hair coloring is not that hard to do. Maybe when I become a great grandma I'll let it go grey but until then I'm not (Insert wink).
This little girl has kept us all on our toes from day one. She thinks she is grown. She is a busy little girl. She is also very friendly and never ever meets a stranger. She will talk your ears off. She loves everybody and has a heart of gold. She is the oldest of the grands and for sure the leader of the bunch. She has a huge imagination. Loves art, loves makeup, loves softball, loves gymnastics, loves to dance, and loves music. She has for sure changed our lives for the better. I am so thankful to be her MeMe. She for sure takes up a lot of space in her MeMe's heart. She's my sweetheart!
I hope you enjoyed your special day. I love you Bookie Shae bigger than the sky! ~MeMe

A brother to love...

I just love this picture. It took a long time for these two to bond. When Z came back to us (failed adoption), he had just turned 4. He had been the youngest in his home and had not had a younger sibling to deal with. He couldn't understand that Blaze was different. He couldn't understand why Blaze didn't walk, talk, eat, and play like other kids do. He didn't understand why Blaze made noises, flapped his arms, and would rather spin things then play with him. He didn't understand Blaze, so he wanted nothing to do with him. It didn't bother Blaze because he is a child that would rather have his own space and play alone. Well, fast forward 1 year and 3 months and this is what you get! It makes my heart smile. Just last week (for the first time ever), Z said, "I love my little brother". Then he said, "When Blaze goes to school with me, I'm going to get a leash and lock it on him (his belt loop) so that I can hold on to him and then he won't run away".  Blaze is blessed to have a brother like Z to look up to. Z is an awesome kid. I pray that these two will only grow closer through the years. I love my boys!
