On Monday, as I mentioned a lady from the Georgia Sensory Assistance Project came and spent a few hours with Blaze. She came to evaluate his needs and to see if he qualifies for their program. He did! Just in time too, because we have our next BIG meeting with the BOE at the end of the month. This gives us one more voice and opinion at that meeting. Thankfully the GSAP lady, Blazes's home teacher, and our BCW special needs service coordinator will be going with us to the meeting and hopefully we will all come to a decision as to what is best for our Blaze and where he will go for preschool. They told me to plan to be there three hours or longer..so it's going to be looooooong one.
I met with one of the possible schools this week. I will meet with another on Monday. The one I visited this week is no longer an option. I had a long talk with the teacher and she was really nice. She said that she has a lot of concerns about Blaze and wasn't confident that she would be the best choice for him. I appreciated her honesty that is what I want in a teacher. I have learned that many things that I was told about this school was not true. I was told that I should really consider sending Blaze to a better school, since I do have that option. I just never knew that it would be this hard to pick a preschool.
Oh and yes we are your typical family. Our week also included mountains of laundry, lots of messes, scattered toys every where, hundreds of diaper changes, beds to be made, kids to be bathed, wood chopped/stacked/loaded in the fire place & wood heater, bills to pay, dirty floors to mop, handprint covered windows to clean, way to many meals to cook, bottles and sippys to make, passys to find, groceries to buy, dishes that never end, pets to be fed, school work galore, and more. So NO I don't always share everything on my blog...aren't you glad???
As for the weekend...
The lady from the GA Sensory Project gave me homework. I have to spend the next few days going through my pictures and taking pictures of Blaze. She is working on a communication notebook for him and on Thursday she is going to put it all together. The hard part is getting him to set still and look at me. I have to capture pictures of him just being himself. She will put the words with the pictures and the notebook will become part of Blaze's IEP. It will help Blaze to communicate with everyone who takes care of him (since he can't/doesn't talk for himself).
I also have to start working on my list of questions for school choice #2 on Monday. I also have to create a list of questions for the IEP meeting. So I'll be busy brain storming all week. I sure hope I have enough paper...lol
Happy Love Day everyone! I hope you all have a great weekend.
Here is a couple of pictures of my Luv Bug :)
