He will go!...

Our little Blaze will be going to GDS (Deaf School)! I am really super excited about it. Just as they said, they called me back first thing yesterday from the school. They gave me a lot of great info and I really like what I heard. I truly believe I'm doing the right thing for my little boy. After the long talk with his BCW service coordinator last week, it made me think twice about sending him off to our public school. She basically talked me out of it. So GDS seems to be our best option. We also learned that because of all of Blaze's special needs it's not going to cost us anything to send him there! I'm really excited about that. Also, the GDS Special Needs service coordinator is going to come here and go with me to the Board Of Education meeting that we have scheduled in August. I won't have to go it alone and I'm happy about that. I feel like everything is falling into place. It must be meant to be. I sure have been praying about it.

You ask why am I talking about school when he is only two years old? Well, he won't be starting preschool until next year, but because of his special needs they have to make sure every thing is in place before he starts. So meeting them this year will give them time to get everything they need for him before he starts next year.

We learned from his PT yesterday that Blaze will be getting his very own walker. He will be needing that for school. The one we have now has been loaned to us by BCW. The PT feels the one we have now is not the best fit for him, so next week they are suppose to come out and take all of his measurements. The new one will be built just for Blaze. Hopefully, he will do better in it, although I really like the one we have now.

Also, the Marcus Autism Center called to set up his second appointment with them. We've already done the work up for the developmental department, but now they won't him to also start working with the feeding department/ team. I never dreamed we would get in this year. I was for sure it would be next year, but I'm glad we got in. It will give him a little time to work with them before he starts school.

We have a lot to do to get ready, but thankfully we are getting a head start on it now. I just want to be sure all of our ducks are in a row. My baby is my heart and I want only the best for him.

All these notes/posts are for myself. This BLOG is my journal and my story. I don't mind sharing it.
