Just stopping by for a quick update....
It's been an exciting week in our family! Our precious little grandson Waylan made his big entrance into the world. He is doing great and mommy is too!!! Today, he had his very first well check. Mommy said he dropped a little weight and is down to 8.3 and today he measured 21 inches long. Baby weight loss is normal in the first few days of life and nothing to worry about. He is a wonderful mellow baby, so far:) Even sleeps through the night. Big sister Kaylan LOVES her new baby brother and is doing so good with him.
Georgia School for the deaf contacted me today about Blaze! I am soooo excited!!!! They are going to be able to work with our county! She forwarded all of our info over and said I should hear back the first of next week. I am so interested to find out what they are planning to do and how they can work with our county. Her first words to me was, "You've come to the right place". Yay!!!!! Can you tell I'm so excited???? I just want Blaze to be where he can be treated well and get everything he needs.
Our sweet little Aniston is 6 months old now and working hard to learn to set up. She is a doll baby. She is doing really good and so is BIG sister Brookelyn.
Brookelyn is all set to start preK in the fall. She got all of her BIG GIRL checkups out of the way (shots too) and did really well. She is so excited about school! MeMe is so proud of her BIG girl!
Blaze has enjoyed a calmer than usual week. No sign language classes and no PT, ST, or OT this week. This is a first for him. As much as I love his therapists and all they do for him (and me), it was nice to just have a calm week without so many appointments and visitors. We will start back up with therapies on Monday:) Blaze is doing amazing!!!!!! I can't help but brag about him. Every day I see him getting better and stronger. I'm just so very proud of my little boy.
Yesterday, I took Blaze back to Children's to meet with his neurologist. She went over the MRI results with me. We had already discussed them over the phone a few weeks ago, but it was nice being able to see what she was telling me on the phone. She showed me the areas of Blaze's brain that the CMV has affected and explained to me why she added cerebral Palsy to his diagnoses. I also let her watch him walk (supporting him with my hands) and she could see the weakness that his therapists have been talking about. He is for sure weaker on the left side and he turns in the left foot. Some areas he is tight and other areas he is floppy. She discussed with us doing botox injections, but she is holding off on those, because even though they are great for tight areas, they will only cause more floppiness in other areas. As long as Blaze is not in pain we are not going to do injections. His CP seems to be mostly affecting him from his hip down. However, he does have slight weakness in his left hand and they think CP may also be the cause of the trouble he has with his balance (but then again that could also be from his ears). It all makes perfect sense now. He is doing way better than ever expected!!!!!
My sweet Bailey is coming tonight to spend a few days with us. We haven't seen her in several weeks, so we are all excited.
Well, that's about it.. It's been a nice week:)
