The other day I had one of those moments. You know the one that brings tears to your eyes? Don't worry they were happy tears. My sweet boy made me cry.
I had watched the movie on Helen Keller. Helen was a blind and deaf child. In the movie her teacher taught her by putting Helen's hand against her throat when she spoke. Well, it gave me an idea. I thought I'd try that with my baby. As you know (If you've been reading my blog) my little boy has some of the same issues as Helen. So I tried it with him. Let me share...
Joshua loves his red fire truck. It's been one of his favorite toys since my friend Monica first passed it to him. He pushes it all around, but not like my other boys did, because they made motor sounds and pretended to rev up their motors when they played with trucks and cars. I thought to myself that it was sad that Joshua didn't know that cars made sounds. So I decided to try what I learned from Helen Keller. I took his hand and placed it against my throat and I made the "vrooooommmm" sound like a car makes. I did it several times with each of his trucks and cars. He set so still and watched me and smiled the sweetest smile EVER! Then he took his fire truck and he copied me with "vroooommmm"... Yes, it was the most precious moment. He got it! He really got it!!!! He kept reaching up to put his hand against my throat to feel more. Now he "vroooommmmms" all his toys.
Every day we learn something new. He may learn a little differently, but he is learning and that's what matters the most.
He's our miracle.
Our little guy has been going through more testing over the last two weeks. Please keep him in your prayers.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart;and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him,and he will direct thy paths. ~Proverbs 3:5-6
