My Goodbye....

I'm opening this blog back up for my mom. She was sad when I made it private.

After much thought I have decided that I will no longer be updating "One Day At A Time" Blog. I've enjoyed blogging here for the last four years. I've enjoyed the sweet comments and the new ~~people~~ friends I've made. I hope that something I've done or said touched your life in some way. God bless you all & best wishes.

A Look Back- 2011

I went back through all of my posts of 2011 and created this flash back post.
Here is looking back on 2011...

January
January brought more snow than normal for our area and the kids had so much fun (The adults did too). We built snow people. Went sledding with our neighbors, and had a bonfire in the snow. We even made the 6 o'clock news with a "Southern Style" igloo that the kids built. We celebrated a very special little girl's first birthday, "Brookelyn Shae". January was also the month we found out that Samantha was expecting a little miracle, "Carter".

February
February was full of love. We celebrated love day "Valentines" with a kid sized party:) We enjoyed heart shaped cookies and cupcakes with pink & red sprinkles. We also enjoyed some warmer than normal weather which meant a couple of trips to the park with the kids. On the very last day of February our precious little Z hit the big half mark! He turned 6 months old.

March
March was the month of new life. Our Mama chicken had lots of baby chicks....which the kids LOVED!!!! We also found out that Samantha's baby was going to be a boy! A new grandson for us!!!!!

April
April was fun for the kids. We colored eggs, baked cookies, and had egg hunts. We also enjoyed our free passes to Jump-4-Joeys (Thanks Felicia). Spent lots of time with our past fosters. I went public with my photography business and started photographing for others. We enjoyed many days at the park having picnics.

May
In May we started a garden for veggies. Planted strawberries & blueberry bushes. We also planted lots of new flowers and Brookelyn enjoyed watering them everyday with her little pink watering can. We also hosted a Tea party for the girls (Brookelyn & Bailey), just for fun. Hubby & I celebrated 22 years together. We had a backyard visitor that just amazed us all. It was a mama owl and her 4 babies. We watched as she taught them how to fly. Z learned to patty-cake. It was also a month of bubbles, watermelons, Popsicles, and lots of giggles.

June
June was hot. Most of the month was spent in the pool ,throwing water balloons, shooting water guns, or running through sprinklers. It was a water month for sure. We enjoyed a week of fun & learning at VBS. We took a trip to Jelly Stone Park. We added a new foster "Miss Ryleigh". We took a quick weekend trip to the mountains. We attended a party at Snip-its. We attended the Sullivan Family Reunion (My Mom's side). We watched Bay catch lightning bugs for the very first time. Then to top off the month, we got a new grandson. Carter decided to surprise us all by coming 6 weeks early. He came before we even had his baby shower.

July
July was a busy month for us. It started off with a BANG! We enjoyed Homespun at Rockmart. The 4th of July at VR Plex. Fireworks and Family day at Helton Howland. We attended a fun filled family day at New Seasons. We hosted a baby shower in Honor of Samantha & Little Carter. We visited the petting zoo at Pritchard Farm. The Hubby & kids took part in Community Makeover 2011.

August
In August we added another foster child to our family ,"Keiara". We took a day trip to Collinsville Market. We visited Untamed Mountain. Took a trip to the pasture to see the horses. Took a trip to the lake to go fishing. Took a trip to the fountains to cool off and play. The twins turned the big 18!!!! Jacob hit double digits with his 10th birthday!!! We celebrated Bailey's 4th birthday!!! We also celebrated Ryleigh and Z (our foster babies) 1st birthdays!!!!

September

September brought us cooler days and more adventures or "Add-ben-tures" as Bailey called it. Our Jacob started a new school year (4th grade). We took a much needed family trip to the mountains with my parents. We visited two apple farms and stocked up on lots of apples and yummy jelly. We took Bailey to BabyLand General (Home of the cabbage patch kids) for her birthday. We enjoyed a rodeo. We took a trip to Uncle Shuck's for a foster family day. The kids really enjoyed the corn mazes, hay rides, pumpkin patch, and marshmallow roasting (Thanks Uncle Shuck for the invite!).

October

October is always a fun month for us. We took part in Twinkle Time at the library and was featured in the local newspaper. We took a trip to the Atlanta zoo. We enjoyed a fun trip to Chuck-E-cheese's with friends (Thanks John & Christy!). We carved pumpkins, made candy apples, and dressed up in cute costumes. We enjoyed a Family Reunion with Hubby's family (His Mom's side). We attended the Tick-or-Treat village in Dallas. We also attended the Hallelujah Harvest festival and enjoyed Trunk-or-treat. Our two fosters Keiara and Ryleigh went home but two new fosters joined our family...we welcomed a newborn little boy named Kellan and a 4 year old named JJ.

November
November was a month full of family, food, and friends. We took part in the 30 days of thankful. We painted most of the inside of our home. We worked on many crafts and tried out some new recipes. We celebrated Thanksgiving a week early with my Hubby's family and then spent Thanksgiving with my side. It was a month full of thankful. We had lots to be thankful for.

December
December is by far one of the best months of the whole year and this one was no different. We read lots of books with the 25 books of Christmas (Thanks to Katie & New Georgia Library). We enjoyed watching our little elf on the shelf "Elfie" get into all kinds of mischief. We cooked /baked lots of yummies with the kids. Decorated the house for Christmas and even took the kids to pick out a real tree. We built a gingerbread house. Attended 3 foster family parties. Had breakfast with Santa. Took part in Hope For Christmas. The kids were in a Christmas play. We also visited Corey & Anna's church to watch their Christmas play. Katie & Ashley were in the Dallas parade. We took a trip to the mall for a Christmas movie and pictures with Santa. The kids drawed pictures and wrote a letter to Santa. We watched lots of Christmas movies. Brookelyn took a fun trip to the Children's museum in Atlanta (Thanks Felicia!). We celebrated Carter's very 1st Christmas and his big 6 month milestone. We enjoyed Christmas dinner with Hubby's side of the family and then dinner with mine on Christmas eve. We remembered to leave cookies for Santa and food for his reindeers. . We enjoyed having Christmas morning breakfast with Brookelyn (Thanks Anna!). We celebrated and sang Happy birthday to Jesus on his birthday. We enjoyed our Christmas surrounded by family & friends.

I hope you enjoyed looking back with me. We have so much to be thankful for. God really has been good to us. Now we are about to start a brand new year and I'm excited to see what God has planned for us this year. I hope this will be another year filled with many more precious memory making days.

A little of everything POST...

I guess this post could best be called "A Little Of Everything". This is not a well thought out post at all, most of mine aren't. I am better at just sharing random things and daily happenings. So where should I start?....hmmmm...

RSV Stinks!!!!

First off, I want to do an update on my little sweetheart "Z". He is not that much better tonight. His RSV is at full force and the xrays today showed he has pneumonia in one lung. He's one sick and very fussy little boy tonight. The steroids are making him so irritable. Nothing is making him happy. He has spent 2 days doing nothing but crying. Normally he is the most happy & smiley baby ever. I will be so happy when he gets to feeling better. Please keep my little man in your prayers.

Did Someone Say New Year?!?!...
I can't believe that it's almost a New Year already. It seems like Easter was just here yesterday...lol It feels like every year goes faster than the one before. Does it seem that way to you too? Maybe I'm just getting old:)

I'm looking forward to a brand new year. I am so ready to say goodbye to this one. 2011 was one of the saddest years of my life, so telling it goodbye feels good. I am looking forward to 2012. I just pray that it will be a much better year for all of us. I'm hoping to do a "look back" on 2011 (only the good things) post ,because we did have some good times too.

I was reading a friend's blog earlier and she posted her two words for the New Year. After much thought, I decided my two words for 2012 will be "Live" and "Love". I plan to live every day to it's fullest... I have already been working on this one. I know to well how fragile life is and I know better than taking my life or the people I love for granted. I plan to show more love to all of my family & friends. I want to make sure that they know how much they mean in my life and I want them to feel my love. Yes, I plan to throw that "laugh" in there too. You know, "Live, Laugh, and Love". Ladonna's blog said two words, but I think I may go with three:) I plan to "laugh" as much and as hard as I can. Life's to short not to be happy.

This may be my quote for the new year...

We are in wedding mode...

As I posted before, our Katie Bug is getting married....this Spring...yes really. My girls LOVE to pop these things on me and they never want to wait a year or two on it (like mom always suggests). So, once again ,we are putting together a speedy wedding. We did it before and we can do it again. She got her wedding dress yesterday. It was originally $400, but she got it on sale for $200 and it was exactly what she wanted...yay!!!! She's one happy girl. Maybe the rest of the planning will go just as well.

I can't believe my precious little grand "Brookelyn" will be turning 2 in 2 weeks. I love the little girl that she is becoming. I love that she can actually carry on a conversation with me now. She acts so much older than 2. I love that she's so prissy & so very girly. I love how she loves babies and animals. I love how she is so loving toward every one and every thing. I love how she is friendly and happy all the time. I just love her so much and I have LOVED watching her grow every day. Come to think of it, I can't think of a single thing I don't love about her:) When she says "I'm my MeMe's girl"...it just makes my heart swell...really.
I've been birthday shopping too. I found this adorable little birthday outfit and just had to have it for my little birthday Princess girl.

And a friend of mine is making Bookie Shae (that's her nickname)

Little girls are just so much fun and MeMe sure is enjoying Miss Brookelyn Shae.

Oh, one more thing...

My blog is going to be printed! I've been wanting to do this for some time,so as soon as the last post of 2011 is posted, I'm sending it to Blog2Print. I'm really excited about this.

Well, I guess I better run. My wee little Z really needs to be cuddled right now, by me:) Oh how I love him.

We have a new year just ahead of us and I have a feeling that it's going to be a wonderful one.
But for now, I am just going to keep putting one foot in front of the other until 2011 is far behind me.

RSV again!

What is the chance of this happening? Our sweet little Z has RSV ...again. What is so strange is this same day (Dec 28) of last year Z was diagnosed with RSV. They sent him home, but we ended up taking him back the next day to be hospitalized with it....grrrr He was so little and so sick and it was so scary.

Yesterday, Z started wheezing & rattling in his chest. It's not that uncommon for him ,because he has asthma. So I started his breathing treatments and called his doc. I took him in today and he tested *mildly* positive for RSV,so we are just at the start of it...grrr It takes about 4-5 days to peak. So we have a few days of yucky ahead. Thankfully, I know more about it this time and we caught it early, so maybe it won't get as bad as it did last year. Please pray for my sweet pea he's sure not himself today.
Z is almost 16 months now. He is 22.8 pounds & 29.5 inches tall. He is a chunky monkey:)

So what is RSV?

RSV is Respiratory Syncytial Virus. It is a type of cold virus. It is very easy to catch and infects most children during their first two years. Most children with RSV only show cold symptoms such as:

*Coughing

*Fever

*Runny nose

*Wheezing and fast breathing

Adults & older children may have or carry RSV but have no symptoms or very mild symptoms, like a regular cold. They may have RSV and not even know it ,but to an infant RSV can be very serious and even fatal.

A test of the mucus from your child's nose can be done to determine if your child has RSV.

*A child can have RSV for several days up to a few weeks.

*RSV is most common in Spring, Fall, and Winter.

How is RSV spread?

RSV is spread mostly by coughing & sneezing. The virus can live on any object for hours which makes it easy to pick up and spread.

Ways to help stop the spread:

1.Frequent hand washing

2.Washing all items child has had contact with.

3.Limit contact with others.

4.Cough & sneeze into the bend of the arm instead of into hands.

How is RSV Treated?

RSV is treated by:

*Giving extra fluids by I.V if child can't take or hold down fluids.

*Using breathing treatments

*Giving oxygen,if needed.

What to expect after treatment?

After treatment, your child may:

*Cough for several weeks

*Have more coughing than expected with colds for weeks or even months after RSV.

Please keep little Z in your prayers.

We are praying for a speedy recovery.

We use the tracker to help us get the kids in bed

on Christmas Eve, but tomorrow is going to be

such a busy day that we let them go ahead

This was very exciting for JJ.

The Week Before Christmas...

The Week Before Christmas Poem

'Twas the week before Christmas, and all through the town,

Not a sign of Baby Jesus, was anywhere to be found.

The people were all busy with Christmas time chores,

Like decorating, and baking, and shopping in stores.

No one sang, "Away in a manger, no crib for a bed."

Instead, they sang of Santa, dressed up in bright red.

Mama watched Martha Stewart, Papa drank from a tap.

As hour upon hour the presents they'd wrap.

Then what from the TV did they suddenly hear?

An ad, which told of a big sale down at Sears.

So away to the mall they all flew like a flash,

Buying some things on credit, and others with cash!

And, as they made their way home from their trip to the mall,

Did they think about Jesus? Oh, no, not at all.

Their lives were so busy with their Christmas time things,

They had no time to remember Christ Jesus, the King.

There were presents to wrap and cookies to bake.

How could they stop and remember the One who died for their sake?

To pray to the Savior, they had no time to stop.

Because they needed more time to "Shop till they drop!"

On Wal-mart! On K-mart! On Target! On Penney's!

On Hallmark! On Zales! A quick lunch at Denny's!

From the big stores downtown to the stores at the mall,

They would dash away, dash away, and visit them all!

And up on the roof, there arose such a clatter,

As grandpa hung icicle lights, using his brand new step ladder.

He hung lights that would flash. He hung lights that would twirl.

Yet, he never once prayed, to Jesus, the Light of the World.

Christ's eyes--how they twinkle!

Christ's Spirit--how merry!

Christ's love--how enormous!

All of our burdens--He'll carry!

So instead of being busy, overworked, and uptight.

Let's put Christ back in Christmas, and enjoy a good night.

The recipes I promised...

A Rice Krispies Tree

3 tablespoons butter or margarine

1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows or 4 cups of miniature marshmallows
6 cups rice krispies
green food coloring
m&ms candy
1 yellow starburst candy for star

Directions...

1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Add a few drops of green food coloring until the green is as dark as you want. Remove from heat.

2. Add KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.

3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into squares. Best if served the same day.

Stack squares up to form the shape of a Christmas tree.
Sprinkle with M&Ms and top with a starbust star:)

Ritz cracker fudge

All you need is a can of white icing, a 12 oz pack of white chocolate chips, and 2 cups of mini peanut butter ritz.
1.Grease a 9x9 or 8x8 pan (depending on how thick you want your bars).
2.Melt your chocolate (I used a double boiler).
3.As soon as the chocolate is melted remove it from heat and dump the can of icing in with the chocolate.
4.Stir until it is smooth.
5.Stir in the crackers.
6.Now pour mixture in your greased pan and mash flat.
7.Chill for at least 30 minutes.
8. Cut into squares and serve. Enjoy!

Pretzel kisses

I love 3 ingredient recipes:)

I love it even more that the kids can make them all by themselves (except for the 2 minutes of baking in the oven).

All you need is a bag of pretzels, Peppermint flavored Hershey kisses (or whatever flavor you like) and we topped ours with a peca(but you don't have to).

The simple...

Let the kids fill a cooking sheet with pretzels(Lay them out flat). On each pretzel add one Hershey's kiss.

Pop the cooking sheet in a 300° oven for 2 minutes and then take them out. Add a peacn (If you want) and let them cool. It's a sweet simple treat:)

Samantha & Anna took the little Grands to see Santa last week. Carter liked Santa but Brookelyn did not. Maybe it's the Santa. He just looks scary to me.

I was getting our lil foster JJ (age 4) ready to go to church to be in the Christmas play. I told him he was going to be an animal in the nativity. He said, "Aunt Sandy, I'm going to be the monkey". I said no JJ you can't be that. I said, You will probably be a sheep or a donkey. He thought about it a minute and said, "No, I can't be that neither". "I'll just be the elephant instead"....lol

All about today...

What a fun, fun, day it has been for our little ones. We woke up bright & early to have breakfast with the Jolly Guy. This was so exciting for the kids. I wish I could show you all the pics ,but since all the pics have foster kids in them(mine & our friend's fosters) ,we can't share them.
Today was also our foster family Christmas party. Many of our county businesses sponsored this event and they went all out to make sure all of our foster families had an extra special day:)

Next, we attended "Hope For Christmas". This was a sweet & special event. I believe it will be one that our children will never forget.

Finally, we made our way home and yes we were all tired. After a little rest, I decided The kids & me would try some of the recipes I've had planned to do. I've tried to include the kids in EVERYTHING I've done this Holiday season...even baking. The kids love being in the kitchen & helping. We now have lots of special treats to share with our church family tomorrow night, after the play.

Carter had his very first chocolate pretzel. (yes,only one made him this messy) He REALLY enjoyed it
(as you can tell)...until his mommy took it away because it was coming apart and he has no teeth to chew it yet. BTW he gives the best chocolate kisses ever. Then MeMe gave him a nice warm bubble bath and that made it all better:)

It's that time of the year...

You know, when you feel so full and so happy that you feel like you could just burst at the seams....yes, that's me...right now...tonight:)
It's the Christmas season. In my opinion, it's by far the most wonderful time of the whole year. The time we celebrate Christ our Lord & Savior.
Here in Howellville we are all so excited & looking forward to Christmas. We've been busier than ever, but trying our best to slow down to savor every single minute as much as we can. It's such an exciting and magical time of year. I just love it!
The little ones in our life have added to the joy this year. Kids have a way of making Christmas even more special. I'm not sure if it's more exciting being little and experiencing Christmas or being the adult who get to watch them take it all in. It's just exciting for them and special.
I wish I could share everything I have on my heart. There is so much more to our lives than what I share here on my blog....so much more. I wish I could share everything God's doing in our lives. I have so much to share but some things I've been asked not to share on here. God is good. Thank you Lord for your blessings on our family.

Did you notice the tree??? LOL

He has pulled all the ornaments

off the bottom of the tree

(as far as his tiny hands can reach).

Every time he pulls one off ,JJ puts it

back on as high as

All of the ornaments are now in

the middle & top of the tree.

It's okay. It has become

a game between them.

I refuse to fuss & complain about it.

I'm just thankful to have little ones

This was the coolest float. It had a snow machine that caused

snow to fall on us as it passed. The kids LOVED it:)

would grow up to be a librarian??? But, she did:)

Love Bears All Things (A Christmas Version)

If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love to family & friends, I’m just another decorator.
If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing amazing meals and arranging a beautifully decorated table at mealtime, but do not show love to family & friends, I’m just another cook.

If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home and give all that I have to charity, but do not show love to family & friends, it profits me nothing.
If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir, but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point.

Love stops the cooking to hug the child. Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the husband. Love is kind, though harried and tired. Love doesn’t envy another’s home that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens.

Love doesn’t yell at the kids to get out of the way, but is thankful that they are there to be in the way. Love doesn’t give only to those who are able to give in return ,but rejoices in giving to those who can’t.

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. Video games will break, pearl necklaces will get lost, golf clubs will rust, but giving the gift of love will last forever.

I took the Sweet Peas to see Santa today

at the mall. They were soooooo excited.

Z wasn't to sure about Santa, but he didn't cry:)

we purchased new ornaments this year.

We decided to use only non-breakable

ornaments. No glass balls, etc.

We've got the Christmas music playing,

the reindeer cookies cooling,

and a cookie cake in the oven.

It's been a fun day for the kids:)

We used peanut butter cookie dough,

M&Ms

and chocolate pretzels

for the cookies & the tree cake.

However, I mashed my dough to thin on these.

I tried to make my cookies more oval shaped.

I have found the thicker the cookies the

easier it is to get the pretzels to stand up

and M&Ms to stick:)

They tasted so good

and the kids LOVED them:)

Our Christmas guest is here! He was hanging in our bare Christmas tree this morning and I have some VERY excited kids about it. Jacob has been worried that he wouldn't come back this year, but he's here!!!

A lil of this & that...

Just stopping by to say, "Hi!".

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ours was bitter sweet. I missed my nanny & lil brother being there. Our holidays haven't felt the same since I lost my first brother in 2005 and then loosing my nanny and my little brother this year was really hard. It was so hard for my mom. I looked over at her several times and saw her in tears...which gets to me every time. I can't even imagine how hard it is to loose your kid ,but to loose two is even more unimaginable. Trying to get use to the new normal without them has been tough. The holidays don't feel the same anymore. You get use to someone being there and then they are gone. I miss the way it use to be...bad. I miss my brothers and my nanny. I still catch myself asking "why?". "Why did this have to happen?" but we just have to accept that it's God's will and try to move forward. One day we will all be back together again. Don't take your family or friends for granted ,because they may not be there tomorrow.

Other than that,we enjoyed family time together and the sharing of all the wonderful memories of the past. The kids kept us extra busy and they had lots of fun laughing & playing together, and I think that helped my parents get through the day.
On Friday, I spent the day with my Mom. We went shopping together. I think I do better online shopping ,but I went because I wanted to get mom out of her house. We had a good day.

On Saturday, Hub's and I got a sitter for the babies and then headed out to the mall. We took Jacob, JJ, and Bailey to shop, eat, and to watch Arthur Christmas. The movie is cute and the special effects are amazing, but I think this movie is better for older kids 8+. Jacob loved it. JJ & Bailey loved being at the theatre, but they couldn't really understand the movie. I didn't really like that the movie made Santa out to be uncaring in some parts. It also had a part where the sleigh landed in Africa and lions tried to attack Arthur & the grand dad. That part scared Bailey so bad that she wanted uncle Brent to hold her and she hid her face and didn't want to watch anymore of the movie.

Yes, I'm just a little excited:) okay, maybe a whole lot excited!!! I have been wanting to complete my DVD collection of the Christmas classic cartoons for the kids and I was only lacking "Charlie Brown's Christmas". Well, today I found it!!! I actually found the Charlie Brown's holidays set for just $20.00. Which made me even more excited. So guess what we are watching tonight????... "Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving".

Tonight, hubby is suppose to arrive back in town from his hunting trip. We've got some really excited kids. They really need some daddy time. Z has missed his Uncle Daddy Brent so so bad. So tonight is going to be another family night for us. I could get use to this every night:) We are going to be watching the movie, finishing up the baking/cooking, and reading a story on the first Thanksgiving (Thanks Katie for the book).

Oh, and look what else I found.

I found this neat book for my Mother-in-law. I so hope she likes it and uses some of the ideas in it. She has grand children in another state that she really wishes she could be close to, but distance makes it hard. I feel so sorry for her ,especially since I'm a MeMe now. I can't imagine only seeing my grands a couple of times a year. I know it really bothers her deeply and it breaks my heart for her. So maybe this book will be a blessing to her and those children.

Day #19-Today I am thankful for some family time.

Today was sweet! We enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving meal with Hubby's side of the family. Our family has grew so much ,that we nolonger can fit all of the dinners in on one day, so my MIL had her family Thanksgiving dinner today. It's amazing how much our family has changed and grew in just one year. God has really blessed us ,that's for sure. I LOVED having all of my kids together under one roof and watching my grands and foster children run & play just blessed my heart. It was just a really sweet day. Thank you Lord for the time you have allowed me to be with the ones I love the most.

Out side my window... It is a cool 46 and going to get colder. We may have to build a fire in the fireplace tonight.
The time is... 10:12 AM
Today I feel...Excited!!!
I am thinking... about what I should cook for the dinner tonight. We are getting together with some of our fostering friends for dinner.
At the moment I am thankful...for this beautiful day.
I am going...to buy some groceries while the sweet peas have their meetings.
I am wearing...pjs...I know, I really should be getting dressed.
I wish...things could be different for my Mother-in-law.
I am working on...a surprise:) shhhh....
I am hearing... JJ talking about "achary"(Zachary) JJ can't say z's.
In the kitchen..I am thinking about what dishes I should fix for tonights dinner. hmmm....
From the learning room...We are late starting today. However, that will keep Jacob busy while I'm away buying groceries.
Around the house...I have so much to finish. We have finished the boy's rooms, baby room, guest bathroom, and hall. Now we are starting on our room and hopefully the dining room this weekend.
I bet you didn't know...I've lost 16 pounds and to my surprise it wasn't even that hard. After I saw myself in our mountain trip pics I decided it was time to drop a few pounds:) I feel great! I am only 1 pound away from my original goal.

I love taking pictures. I especially love taking pictures of my kids. This is my oldest daughter Anna and her family (Corey & Brookelyn Shae). We've been trying to plan a day, for weeks ,to do some new family pictures of them. I'm glad that we finally did. The hardest part was trying to figure out which ones to post because the whole session went well.

What I am Thankful for...

I've fallen behind on this so I'm going to try to catch up in one post:)

Day #8- I am thankful for my foster kids.

I'm not sure I can even put it in words. I don't even think there is enough time to tell you all I could share. These children have made a huge impact in my life. They have taught me so much that I never knew. I've learned so much about unconditional love. They've taught me it's not about blood. It really is all about LOVE. They've taught me compassion. Compassion for those who don't have it as good or as easy as me. They've taught me it really is possible to love someone's child as your own, because I have/do. These kids are special people. They've been through more than most adults ever will. They are tough. They are soft. They are strong ,but yet sensitive. They have so much to give and they long for someone to give it to. They have lived through all kinds of things and they are survivors. You hear me often refer to them as my nieces and nephews, well by blood they are not ,but they love me like their aunt ,and I love them like they are mine...with all my heart...all 25 of them. It's not about blood at all. It's about caring and showing it. It's about giving and taking. It's about putting others before yourself. It really is about Love...all about love. Fostering is a work of HEART. It's one of the hardest things I've ever done ,but one of the sweetest and most rewarding.

Day #9-I'm thankful for my friends.

I have lots of people that I know and I call many of them friends, but I have only a couple of very close friends. Friends that know me and know me well. The kind of friend that can finish your sentence off, because they know what you are going to say ,before you even say it. I thank God he placed them in my life. They are a blessing. Thank you Lord for blessing my life with friends.

Day #10-I am thankful for health.

I am so thankful for a healthy body & mind. Some are not so fortunate. In 2002, I was very sick. I had been diagnosed with meningitis, toxoplasmosis, and bell palsy. It was one of the hardest things our family had to go through. I learned to never take life for granted. I had been healthy my whole life and in one day I went from healthy to very sick. I made a full recovery and I've been healthy ever since. Thank you Lord for healing me and restoring my health.

Day #11- I am thankful for our family dog.

She was a little stray that adopted us. She showed up in our yard one day( we think some one put her out here) and we decided to keep her. She has been here now for about 3 years, She is a shy dog,but very protective and she LOVES our family, especially the kids. She has been a best friend to my youngest son Jacob and follows him everywhere he goes when he is outside. She is the most loving dog ever and will sometimes drive you nuts trying to love on you. She is a member of our family and we love her.

I made it...

Well, I made it through my second speech this week, but this time was sooooo much easier. Maybe because I had the support of two of our other moms and 3 of the Casas that I know very well,because they are taking care of my boys right now. Instead of focusing on all the people I didn't know, I spoke as if it was just us 6 in the room and then answered questions at the end(which is not nearly as hard). Thank you for the prayers SailorMoon they worked. ((hugs)) Speaking before a crowd is one of my greatest fears ,it may even be a phobia. It causes my heart to race, my knees to knock, my hands to shake and sometimes it even makes me stutter(which is sooooo embarrassing). However, I'm going to try to start doing this more often and I hope that it will get easier each time. As I said before, if I can say or do anything to help someone else ,then that's what I want to do.

I believe we were put here on earth for more than just existing and living for ourselves. I truly believe that God placed us each here with something to do. He has something for everyone. I truly believe serving & helping others is my calling and I want to do my best for my Lord.

What I am Thankful For...

Day #7- I am thankful for my job.
I'm a lifestyle photographer and I love my job. It's not just my job, it's a passion. It's something I really enjoy. Not many people get paid for doing what they love to do. It really doesn't feel like work ,because I love doing it so much. I enjoy meeting new people and sharing in their special moments.

I can still be a full time mom (which is VERY important to me), because I set my own schedule and I do most of my work from home. I plan my day around my babies so that when I'm away taking pics ,their dad is here taking care of them. I can work as much or as little as I like...which is nice:) I am blessed. Thank you Lord for blessing me with ~~work~~ joy.

What I am thankful for...

Day #6- I am thankful for my church.

In 1989, I joined my church. It was my Hubby's church first and when we wed I decided the right thing to do was to leave my home church ,to be with my husband. It was hard, because I loved my church and my church family, but ,I knew in my heart that the right thing to do was to go where my husband went.

I love my church. I've raised my children up in the church and all of my children have accepted Christ as their Savior. They are all active in their own churches and raising their own children up in church. Thank you God! (I get happy when I think about it.)

I am thankful for my Pastor Kent, who is not afraid to preach the Word exactly as it is in the Bible. We are all blessed to have him to lead us and educate us in God's word.

The members of our church are like my family. Honestly, they've been there for me ,when my own family wasn't. I have a wonderful relationship with all of our members and I truly believe I could call on any one and know they would come. I know them all and they know me. I'm blessed to have them in my life and I love each one of them like they are family.

I truly believe that most of the problems in the world could be terminated if more parents would get involved in church and raise their children up in church. Children who have gone to church from birth are more likely to go to church as an adult. A home where Christ is the center, is a home that will stand even through the toughest storms of life.

All people need 3 homes- a family home, a church home, and a heavenly home and Christ is the key to all three. I would like to encourage you to attend church next Sunday and carry your family. It just may be the greatest thing that you ever do for your family and the results could impact all of eternity.

30 Days of Thankful Day #5- I am thankful for my home.

I am thankful for my home. It's the place I go to relax, unwind, be myself, and do what ever makes me happy. It's my shelter from the storms of life. It's just a modest, simple, little place ,but a place filled with lots of love. It may not look like much, but oh it is. It's filled with some of the most precious memories. Moments that I'll always cherish. Our home is far from new. It's old and it's used, but it's home. My hubby worked very hard to be able to pay our house off and he did last year! It's ours now. I am so thankful that I have been able to have a stable home to raise my children up in. A home that they can look back on and say "That's where I grew up". Thank you Lord for blessing us with a home of our own.

One fine fall day...

Yesterday was one beautiful day.

It was a perfect day for a nice fall walk.

I don't have that much alone time with Brookelyn,

because I have the fosters,but yesterday she & I

went walking. It was just us. Me and my girl.

She just explored and talked and giggled

all the way. She talks ALL the time now.

We had a sweet time together.

She's getting so big and growing up so fast.

(This is the same face her mom always

made when she was little and excited.)

The wind was blowing her hair

and she said it tickled her head:)

She is finally getting hair.

It took long enough.

She still puts EVERYTHING in her mouth

and when you tell her that's gross

she thinks it's funny.

She's a stinker.

She keeps me

going and giggling.

She is 10 % mischief,

plus 90% sweetness,

and that equals 100%

of pure joy.

It's Not Christmas yet...

Oh My! What is going on? I headed to town to buy an outfit to wear to my step-mom's funeral and I couldn't help but notice all the Christmas stuff. People, it's just now November.

The stores are already decorated. They have already hung Christmas lights and have them lite up on the street lights through town. Then we passed a car with a freshly cut Christmas tree. We heard Christmas music on the radio. Then to top it off, the first house in the sub division next to me has their house lite up and their tree in the window was fully decorated and twinkling. Shouldn't we first celebrate Thanksgiving?

Day #4- I am Thankful for Brookelyn & Carter

When I found out I was going to be a MeMe at age 37, I had mixed feelings. I was VERY excited for Corey & Anna and really excited about having a new baby (especially a little girl) in the family. However, being a MeMe made me feel old. I was opening a new chapter in this book called life and I wasn't sure if I was ready. I didn't like the thought of getting old ,because I still feel so young. I wondered how I would feel with a kid calling me MeMe all the time.
Well, that grand day arrived. I was there to watch my little Princess come into the world. It was a moment filled with emotions. I had never been in the room when a child was born,so I had no idea exactly what to expect. I had been present at the hospital when my niece Jessie was born and when my niece Bailey arrived, but I wasn't in the room. I appreciated the fact that my sister-in-laws included me when their girls arrived, after all, I've never had a sister to share those kinds of moments with. It was special to me. I will never forget holding my nieces for the very first time. But this birth was different. Being there for Brookelyn's birth was more than I imagined. The moment I looked at that tiny miracle, my heart overflowed with love so much that my eyes spewed (tears)...lol It was HAPPY tears. I was the PROUDEST MeMe ever and I still am.
I have loved being a MeMe more than I ever imagined. Hearing my baby girl call me MeMe is like music to my ears. Now, God has given me two precious GRANDangels. A little Princess and a little Peanut. A baby girl and a baby boy. How perfect is that? One of each. I am soooooo blessed to have two wonderful GRANDbabies to share my love with and being a young grandmother means I can do more than just rock them in a chair. I can still play and keep up with them...lol

Prayer Request

I would like to ask you all to please take a moment and say a prayer for my dad. He just called me while ago to let me know that my step mom has passed away. She was recently diagnosed with cancer and it was already at a stage 4. My dad and her have been married since I was two years old. Also remember her son and her two grandchildren.

What's For dinner? Brunswick Stew

Brunswick Stew

This is my version of Brunswick Stew

and it is one of my family's favorites.

3 lbs chicken

3 lbs pork

1 can whole corn

5 cans cream corn

5 med potatoes

3- 28 oz cans of tomatoes

1/2 cup or less of Great Value (walmart brand) Louisiana hot sauce

1 tsp vinegar

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 bottle ketchup

1 med finely chopped onion

1 tsp sugar

1/3 cup BBQ sauce

Cook meats and potatoes until tender. Take meat off the bone. Put all meats in a food processor and grind up. Mash the potatoes up. Add all ingredients in a large pot and cook on low heat for about 3 hours or you can cook it over night in a crock pot. Stir often.

Day #3- I am thankful for my children

I know the last two posts kinda fall under family (post #1) ,but I wanted my Hubby & children to have their very own posts.

God has blessed Brent & I with 6 wonderful children, five from birth and one from fostering. They are my life. They have brought me more joy than I have room or time to post about.

All I wanted when I was a child, was to grow up and have a child. I just wanted to be a mom. I couldn't wait to start my family (so I started early...lol).

The day I had my first child was the happiest day ever. It was real love. I was the proudest mom in all the world the day Anna was born. Then when we found our about Katie, I was so afraid that I wouldn't be able to love her as much as I did Anna. Wrong! It's like the Grinch's saying, "My heart grew two sizes". It's true. I loved Katie every bit as much as I loved Anna. My heart has only grew as my family has.

Children truly are gifts from God and I love mine with all my heart. Thank you Lord for blessing me with the precious gift of motherhood.

Day #2- I am thankful for my mate

For over 20 years, Brent and I have walked side by side. We've been blessed more than words can express. When I say, "God's been good to us", I mean that. He has blessed us and brought us through so much. The journey we've had, has made us who we are today.

I can't imagine where I'd be if Brent hadn't been here with me. He's been strong, when I was weak. He's provided and taken care of me. He has been a good husband and dad and the best foster dad any kid could ever have. He truly has gotten even better with time.

No it hasn't been all peaches & cream. We've had some rocky times. Times when it took all that we had just to get through the day, but we got through it and instead of making us weaker, our relationship got stronger.

Yes, I'm thankful for my mate. I love my husband. I have been blessed to have a husband who is not just a husband ,but also my friend.

I decided to join my friend Caroline over at The Croley Gang for the 30 Days Of Thankful. I'm going to do my best to stop by every day, after all, I have so much to be thankful for. Thank you Lord for your blessings on me.

Day #1- I'm Thankful For Family
Yes, I am thankful for my family. God has blessed me with a wonderful family and an extended family. The one thing I've learned in life is that family is very important and precious. To often we take our family/relatives for granted.

I've lost many relatives. Most of these we've lost within the last 10 years and most were sudden and unexpected. Death is very real to me. I know what it's like to hurt. I know what it's like for my family to hurt. I stood by the bedside and watched family members pass. So when I say, "I am thankful for family" I truly mean that with all of my heart. Friends come and go, but family is forever.

To many people let silly things wreck their family. They let silly disagreements and arguments turn in to years of bitterness and resentment. I know, I've been guilty of it myself. Some stay angry so long that they forget what it was that made them so angry to begin with. But ,when the day comes and that person is no longer here, you realize just how precious family really is and just how fragile people really are.

Family is a gift from God. I am thankful that God has blessed me with my family & my Hubby's family (which is also my family). I am thankful for a family to love. I am thankful that I can take care of them and know that they will take care of me. I am blessed to have each of my family members (rather it's by blood or marriage). Having them has added so much to my life. Thank you God for blessing me with a family.

she was only 4 days old.

She is now 4 years old.

It's been four fun years.

She has brought so much

joy & love to our WHOLE family.

During the holidays, it seems to me, that people think about others more than at any other time of the year. Some churches/people adopt families in their community that are in need or a special child (ren)who may not be getting anything for Christmas.
Well, if you are one of these kind hearted people, let me suggest something for you. Would you consider sponsoring a foster child this Christmas?
Here in our county we have the Secret Santa program. Our Santas are thoughtful people who want to make a difference in the lives of abused children.
Some of our children have never experienced family gatherings, much less woke up to find gifts under a tree, so this a very special time for them and for us foster families. However, many of our foster homes are serving several children and it can be a lot on the foster parents to purchase gifts for so many little ones. Foster families really need help from their communities. We want our children to have a very special Christmas and one they will always remember but without help it would be much harder. Secret Santas are truly a blessing to us.
I've found with my fosters, that they are not nearly as spoiled as my own kids are. When you ask them to make you a wish list, they usually ask for simple things . Remember most of them have nothing, so they appreciate things a lot more than children who have every thing.
If you think this is something you might be interested in, call your local family & Children's services. It really does make a difference in the lives of these precious children.

Favorite hobby- sucking his passy

Favorite person- Probably me, but Hubby is a close second.

Likes-Sleeping on your chest, swaddled in a blanket,

swinging in his swing, sucking his passy, and eating (constantly).

Dislikes-taking a bath or dropping his passy.

He has his nights & days mixed up.

He hates getting his diaper changed.

The Pumpkin Prayer

Dear God,

As I carve my pumpkin help me say this prayer;

Open my mind so I can learn about you.

(cut the top of the pumpkin)

Take away all my sin and forgive me

for the wrong things I do.

(clean out the inside)

Open my eyes so your love I will see;

(cut the eyes in the shape of hearts)

I'm so sorry for turning up my nose to all you've given me.

(cut the nose in the shape of the cross)

Open my ears so your word I will hear.

(cut the ears in a rectangle like the shape of the Bible)

Open my mouth so I can tell others You're near

(cut the mouth in the shape of a fish)
